About us

作Sayクラブは、ものづくりを楽しみながら、学校や課外教室等で習った英語を話す機会を提供するユニークな　　　　　「英語のものづくり」を企画するグループです。英語の教室ではありません。英語を聞きながらものを作り、　　　　　　　作品の作り方や完成した作品について英語でコミュニケーションしていく、参加者の子ども達が主体となる活動を　　　　　振興していきます。　　　　　　

技術教育と英語教育のコラボレーション活動が、作Sayクラブの目的です。

SSC (Saku Say Club) design items to be made using instruction written in English that provide a unique opportunity for children to speak English while they are having fun.  　　Please note that these are not English lessons however, we do encourage children to take a leading part, by communicating in English whilst completing these activities.

Our aim is to support the collaboration of technology and English education.  

Children in Japan hardly ever have an opportunity to use the English language that they have learnt at school.  It is nearly impossible for them to have the chance to express themselves in English. However, through our monozukuri they will experience a situation where they need to be able to listen to a set of instructions and speak, in English, in order to successfully complete the activity. This experience will gradually encourage the children to communicate in English and build their confidence whilst enjoying themselves. 　　　　　　We hope that this will also improve their spoken language.

We try to design various types of monozukuri where children will listen to English instructions in order to make their items. The instructor will clearly explain in English the materials needed and the process from beginning to end. An instruction manual will be provided in both languages so children are able to check vocabulary and refer to it if they are unsure about what the instructor has said. As face-to-face sessions are not possible due to the current difficult situation, we will upload our activities onto a social media platform so children can comfortably participate in a session at home.
